Adventures in Georgetown
Earlier this year, we had the pleasure of working with Georgetown, Texas’ Convention and Visitors Bureau, designing both their website and 2011 visitor’s brochure. While we feel we channeled the city’s character quite well, we had a little secret: we’d never been to Georgetown, TX.
That all changed last week as I journeyed to Austin, TX for some good music, good food and good company. Located just 30 miles north, a trip to Georgetown was a must. Accompanied by a close friend, we loaded up the truck and headed to the Red Poppy capital of Texas. As we pulled into historic downtown, it was easy to see how the charm had translated so easily.
Over a plate of delicious Tex-Mex (which is pretty much all I ate during my visit), I had an opportunity to catch up with some of our favorite clients, Cari and Erin. Both integral players in the development of the website and brochure, it was so nice to finally put faces to names and voices! Over lunch, I also had a chance to meet Memo Plata, the owner of Dos Salsas and a Best of Georgetown 2010 winner. As a local favorite, Memo and his family-owned restaurant were featured in the 2011 ‘Sincerely Yours’ campaign. While I didn’t get to sample one of his famous Rita’s, the food was delicious. After lunch, I took a stroll through the restaurant and what to my wandering eyes should appear, but the 2011 Visitors Guide framed and hanging for all to see. Just like a proud parent, I couldn’t help but snap a photo.
