Guest Blogger #1 – Helping us Stay Legally Informed in the Sunshine State

When starting a business, life becomes a bit of a rollercoaster ride. You can be sure to expect highs like you’ve never felt, expect lows like you’ve never felt, and those feelings you can be sure will occur all in a span of 24 hours.  There is no room for doubt, and trust me, when starting a business there are always feelings that will creep up that must be squashed immediately, otherwise they will get the better of you.

I left my well paying, partner-track, CPA job to start a business with a close friend who is an attorney.  That close friend also happens to be my mom.  One partner at that firm told me I didn’t have the personality to start a business and in not so many words said I would fail because of that.  Another told me going into business with family could turn ugly.  Another told me I wasn’t allowed to quit until I went home that night, slept on it, and came back the next day with the same answer.

Our business, StayLegallyInformed.com has been a success after only a year, although it’s still too early to tell what the future holds.   But in spite of all the obstacles we’ve faced in getting our business off the ground, I have never regretted my decision to do it.

I guess this post isn’t so much about the struggles of starting a business, but taking that leap to even try.  In my opinion if you have the guts to go for it, you’re already a success!  After all what sort of life is one that is always played safe?
