In the Greek community, annual meetings are the ONE time of year the organization’s entire leadership assembles. These crucial meetings are where leadership elections and important bylaw additions/revisions take place and typically are limited to the highest officers within each chapter or emerging leaders who would benefit from understanding the inner-workings of the organization. Attendees leave empowered with a refreshed sense of brotherhood/sisterhood and a better understanding of how these national/international organizations operate.
There are so many details that going into planning these massive meetings, and event branding should occur at the front end of the planning process. An event logo is so much more than an icon posted on a registration sign or program cover. It immediately sets the tone for the entire event at a single glance.
Tapping into your membership to design an event logo is a tempting prospect — after all, what could be better than free design? A lot, it turns out. Professionals (ahem, R&R) understand how to dive deeper into the meaning of the event and its lasting significance, in turn ensuring that the event logo is more than just a pretty image on a T-shirt — it starts to tell your story. When selecting an event logo, keep a couple things in mind: What message are you sending to attendees? How do you want them to feel after the program commences?
We may be biased, but we believe these 2016 event logos deserve a standing ovation. Here’s our professional perspective on what made them work.
A recent transition in Sigma Tau Gamma’s leadership opened the doors to enhance the visual identity of the entire fraternity, which included conference branding. The Grand Chapter, SigTau’s annual fraternity-wide gathering, needed a logo that would both capture the aspirations of the event and provide a glimpse of the overall rebrand they would unveil during the gathering.
This logo received glowing reviews from a wide swath of attendees, from collegiate members to SigTau alumni and friends. The aesthetic carried to Grand Conclave collateral, including programs, signage, pens and T-shirts, to name a few. The logo and branding will transition to future meetings to create consistency and brand recognition across fraternity events.
We designed a logo mark and corresponding icons and patterns for Alpha Gamma Delta’s 2016 convention. The fanciful logo imparted a sense that the even was both an important and fun opportunity for members to celebrate sisterhood and their love for the organization. Attendees left the event with valuable information to grow their chapter and improve on a personal level.
The theme “Imagine” allowed Alpha Gamma Delta the ability to think bigger in terms of messaging and design, create moments that encouraged members to connect with their shared history, imagine the possibilities for the future and feel confident that the organization is making strides in the right direction. The logo is a dynamic, personal and optimistic image that embraced the entire sisterhood, both those who are active and those who needed a nudge to get involved.
